In the ladies' game Annika Sorenstam was even more dominant despite the emergence of several exciting younger players on the LPGA Tour.
However, I believe that the great game of golf may be on the threshold of a stand-out year and that when the curtain comes down on 2006 there will be many memorable moments to savor.
As ever, we at Kingdom will be following these events as they unfold and are looking forward to chronicling the activities of golf's leading protagonists.
For my part, I have pretty much decided that I will be spending more of my time developing and undertaking golf-course projects over the next 12 months and less of my time playing.
I will continue to play in charity events for hospitals and my cancer foundation, of course, but I will not be following a very active playing schedule. I still love the game dearly, but I'm afraid my standard of play is not up to speed.
Perhaps this will give me more time to catch up with my reading, and where better to start than with this issue of Kingdom which is dedicated to the pursuit of the highest standards and the finest things in life.
There is something for everyone in Kingdom, from putting tips to lifestyle guidance, and above all it is my sincerest hope that an enjoyable hour spent absorbing the many words in this issue will help to improve our readers' golf and lives in 2006.
With best wishes,
Arnold Palmer
