 | 1971 -- Mike Bradley, 16, of Winter Park, Florida, follows Palmer during his second round at the Florida Citrus Invitational and earns a meeting with Palmer after telling reporters he counted the golfer hitching up his pants 345 times during the round. Local newspapers run a picture headlined, "'Hitcher' Meets 'Counter,'" in which Palmer explains, "The reason I hitch my trousers goes back to a time when I was about your age. My hips were always sort of narrow and my pants had a tendency to slide down. My mother was always on me about it," he grinned. "She'd say, 'Arnold, tuck your shirttail in!' So in order to please her, I started pulling 'em up all the time. I've done it so long that I'm totally unconscious of even doing it."
