Palmer wins '73 Bob Hope, his last PGA victory

1973 -- At the Bermuda Dunes C.C. in Palm Desert for the Bob Hope Classic, Jack Nicklaus leads or shares the lead until the 73rd hole of the 90-hole event. But Palmer takes the lead going into the last hole. Nicklaus misses a 30-footer for eagle while Palmer sinks a seven-footer for birdie. Nicklaus finishes tied for second with Johnnie Miller. At 43, it is Palmer’s first win in 18 months and will be his last on the PGA Tour. “It seemed like old times out there,” says Palmer, who wins $32,991. Tournament Queen and future “Wonder Woman” star Linda Carter and Vice President Spiro Agnew are on hand to present the trophy.<br>
